Flora for your space

I'm Kaili, and I make faux floral arrangements by hand in my Toronto studio, one at a time. This page is for business spaces: lobbies and offices, building common areas, clinics and medspas, salons, showrooms, hotels and restaurants. If you want the room to look properly finished without anyone having to look after it, this is what I do.

Every piece is designed for the room it goes in, in your colours and at the right scale, and it holds its colour and shape for years with no water, no wilting and no upkeep. I source vintage and one-of-a-kind pots and vases myself, so nothing I make repeats. The piece I build for you is a one of one, and I never make it again for anyone else.

Two ways to do this

  • Buy the piece. One arrangement, built for your room, yours to keep. My faux orchid arrangements are a good starting point for a reception desk or a treatment room.
  • The monthly refresh. A monthly fee instead. I build a piece for your room, and every month I bring you a new one and take the old one away.

If you are a designer or a stager specifying this for a client, I work on a trade basis too.

For condo lobbies and building common areas

If you look after a condominium or a rental building, the simplest place to start is one statement piece for the lobby, built to the scale of the space. It is the first thing residents and their guests see: no water near the front desk, nothing for your staff to look after, and nothing wilting in the entrance. I deliver and place every piece myself, anywhere in the GTA. Every building is quoted on its own space. Tell me the size of the lobby and how many pieces you want, and I will come back with a price you can put in front of your board. On the monthly refresh below, I bring a new piece each month and take the old one away, so the lobby never looks the same two months in a row. There is nothing to pay upfront beyond the first month, and the refresh runs six months minimum, then month to month.

Other common areas work the same way, whether that is a party room, an amenity floor or a leasing office. Whether this sits with your management office or with the board, either works. Send me the building address, or a photo of the lobby, and I will come back with ideas and a price.

The monthly refresh

Nothing off a shelf, and nothing recycled from another client. Every piece I bring you is built for your space.

  • One statement piece. Built for your room and your colours, replaced with a new piece every month.
  • Two pieces. Reception plus one more room, at a lower rate per piece.
  • Three pieces. Lobby, amenity floor and one more, at a lower rate again.
  • Four or more. For showrooms, spas, hotels, multi-room clinics and larger buildings, priced on the space.

Every plan is monthly and quoted for your building, so what you pay depends on the size and number of pieces. The more pieces you take, the lower the rate on each one. Tell me about the space and I will come back with a price.

Every option includes delivery, placement, the pot or vase, the monthly swap, and taking the old piece away. If an indoor refresh piece gets knocked over or damaged, I repair or replace it at no charge. Everything I make for a business is meant for indoors.

The monthly refresh is a GTA service, since I come back each month to swap the piece.

There is normally a one-time design and install fee on each piece, which covers the design work and the first install. I am waiving it on every piece while I get the first buildings onto the route. After that the refresh runs six months minimum, then month to month, with 30 days' notice to stop.

The first conversation and the site visit cost nothing, and you see the design and the price before anything is agreed.

How it works

  1. Show me the space. I can come by and look, about twenty minutes, or you send me a few photos and rough measurements. Either one works.
  2. I come back with a plan and a price. Two or three options, with the actual pieces and vases I have in mind. No surprises later.
  3. I build it by hand. Every stem cut and placed in my studio here in Toronto, usually about two weeks.
  4. I deliver and place it myself, anywhere in the GTA. For projects outside the GTA, email me and we will work out how to get it there.
  5. Every month I come back with something new, if you are on the refresh, and the old piece leaves with me.

Why not fresh flowers

No water near equipment or a treatment room. Nothing wilting by Thursday and nothing to throw out on a Monday. No weekly delivery for someone to sign for. It looks the same in February as it does in June, and your front desk does nothing at all.

Email me a photo of the space and tell me a little about the room, or fill in the short form on my design page, and I will come back to you with ideas. That first conversation is free and nothing is owed for it. I usually reply within a day.

If you are buying the piece, then once we have agreed on a direction a deposit starts the build and it comes off the price of your piece. For a piece $500 or more that is 50%, which I invoice you. For anything under $500 it is the $150 design deposit.
